Default Modify a Copper John Sight bracket for Bowtechs?

I was wondering if anyone had tried to modify a Copper John sight bracket like the one below so that only the closest set of mounting holes were left on the bracket? This would entail cutting the bracket behind the vertical set of holes nearest the dovetail and presumably rounding the two newly created ends for cosmetic purposes. It seems this configuration would blend itself nicely into the two holes tapped into Bowtech risers. Anyone at least think of doing this, or am I nuts[&:]?

Also, would there be a way to blacken the exposed aluminum without the complicated anodizing process? I've blued and browned gun barrels before, but I'm not sure if there's an easy aluminum finishing equivalent - aside from paint of course.

Add to this a Kwikee Quiver Lite quiver and mounting bracket and I think it would make a sleak, lightweight, and easily removable sight/quiver combo for treestand hunting...........thoughts?
