RE: musket caps?
Wow, I must have gotten hold of a bad batch the season before last. When I got my muzzleloader, I didn't even try the 11's. I immediately switched to musket caps. That rifle had 2 misfires on deer that season. I switched back to 11's and haven't had a problem since.
Incidently, the gun never misfired at the range. It only misfired in hunting situation with a deer under the stand. Once for me and once for my son.
That kinda left us with a "bad taste in our mouths" for musket caps. I have since gotten a NEF muzzleloader that uses 209 primers, but I haven't shot it yet. Still have the no.11 nipple on the CVA though.
