In Va. there is no profiecancy test, in a way I would like to see one, but as others have said, we would be opening up a huge can of worms, if bow hunters had to do it, so would gun hunters, would there be a seperate test for birds? Who would determine the standards, then of course there is the additional cost.
We need more people in the sport and we need to educate them through the hunter safety courses already in place. We need to instill ethics in them, I still limit myself to no shot over 20 yards even though I am comfortable out to 30. Why? Ethics. If we educate new and present hunters on the importance of knowing what you can shoot and what you can't ethically, we will see the kill rate escalate and more people in the sport.
