RE: Moose Gun
Moose hunting in Saskatchewan is all about finding water and meadows situated in the forest, with these locations you have found their favorite foods "willows and water plants". While moose do live in forest fringe areas hunting them here requires luck or good ole fashion pushing bush...not what I call exciting moose hunting. However for a non resident through an outfitter you'll be situated in the far north where hunting will be swamps, lakes, etc. Access is fair as many looging roads to use in most areas but a quad, winch, chainsaw and trailer is an absolute must. I have seen many topping 40" but 50" is where you want to be and in that sense I have seen very few either on the hoof or on the ground in Saskatchewan. If I wanted truly big Canadian Moose Northern BC would be the place I would consider.
I have been drawn FINALLY and am looking forward to going way back in search of the "Twig Eater". The area in which I was drawn I don't expect quality to be extremely high but then again it isn't my main focus either. Call some moose, have some close encounters, no hassles, scenery and come back with a freezer full of meat...I'll be tickled, big horns would be a bonus.
