Default RE: Moose Gun

That low cover is called Black Spruce, You get into it, you might not get out. That is the toughest stuff I ever seen. Of course we try to get close. Every situation is different. If possible and the wind is blowing in the right direction, we will try to sneak around the hill and come up on top of them. Rarely works out. I have seen Maine Moose, and they don't seem near as skidish as these Newfie moose. I have been winded 300 yards away.

Now last year, all the guys in my camp got shots closer than 150 yards. Just the luck of the draw. And all tagged out first two days. But sticking to tradition, I hunted all 6 days. Still didn't take anything bigger than they did. I am going to start doing research on Western Canada. Believe me, I don't like all that bog land. Every year, I sprain an ankle, or pull my hip.

Stubble, any direction to start looking. I have been loyal to these guys and they give me special breaks and consider them friends, but am serious about western canada. I got a friend in Red Deer I think, near Edmonton. He said he has moose, but doesn't see them often. He is more of a elk hunter.
