RE: Are You a REAL Bowhunter or a TV Star??
OK, I must admit I had one come back to life once. I was walking in logging country back to my jeep. A couple does hit the skidder trail in front of me really moving. I threw up my 30-06 and when the next deer hit the road I saw horns, I swung and yanked the trigger. Too my surprise the buck folded at 100 yards in mid leap. So I walk up and had hit the spine right behind the shoulders. He's trying to drag himself off through these small pines. Rather than shoot again I managed to unsheath my knife and grab some horn. I yanked him up from behind with his antlers neatly wrapped around a 4 inch pine. I there in jabbed and poked and slashed until the blood was pumping out with every heart beat just like a hose. I dropped him and walked the 200 yards to my jeep. Drove down, pulled him to the road, and loaded in the back of my jeep wedged between the spare sitting where the back seat should have been and the tailgate. He's lying on his back with all four legs sticking straight up. I got about 1/4 of a mile down the road and his hind legs start flailing the sides and top of my jeep. I slammed on the breaks, dropped the tailgate, he hit the road and I blasted him again. Now this was 15 minutes after I slit his throat. If I'd kicked him I might have been alright.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
