I don't think it would be a bad idea, but I seriously doubt that it is the best choice for a 44 mag. It makes a lot more sense as a 445 super mag or 444 marlin bullet. It is so long it will stick down in the 44 mag case so far that there will be very little room for powder. velosities would be very low with this bullet. I think that for a good heavy load for the 44 would be one of the 300-325gr either WFNGC or WLNGC bullets would be a much better comprimise of velosity and weight. I carry a S&W 629 with 4" barrel and shoot a 300gr WFNGC @ 1300fps or a 280gr WFNGC @ 1350fps. The extra velosity will overcome any increase in momentum of the heavier bullet. If you have a 445 supermag or a 444 marlin the 405gr bullet might do a good job.
