RE: New Old Gun
It is not a rare gun, but if in good shape perfectly capable of killing deer for generations. The 30-30 and the 32 special, while not long distance rounds, and not high velocity rounds, fill the role as deer killers just fine when the hunter makes a good shot at deer under 200 yards. Can the 30-30 and the .32 special kill deer beyond 175-200 yards? Sure...just not as easily oas some other rounds without as much drop.
If your 94 is in good shape, it should be a fine deer gun for years to come as long as you take care of it.
P.S. As said above, since it was your father's gun, it is "something special"
