ive killed 6 deer in 5 years (nothin great but im just stating im not a weekend warrior) and not one time was i in a stand or blind.....i like to sit my butt at the base of a tree and wait.....we do use nature to help us.....ive taken many of those sitting in a few fallen trees that i helped brush up around me and make comfy for me........but other then that im sitting with something to my back waiting.....i like to be mobile.....climbing in and out of trees isnt so mobile......and what if something happens by your stand and messes you up? your not going to hunt there? or your going to move your stand??i have a few stands....may use one this year....i know where an old bucks living and last year was the first year noone hunted the area but me.....so i may set one up and leave it there.....or ill set up a nice ground blind thing made out of brush.....i know where he sleeps....knows where he travles.....i just have to be there when hes awake.....hes a smart ole buck....i was squirrel hunting last year when i met him....he let me walk within 100yds of him....then he snuck down the trail without me noticeing much......only thing that bust him was his snort as he was about 150yds away.....then i put it all together and noticed what i seen and where he came from......so maybe a stand will help me get him.....but i usually dont use them......i dont see how hunting from the sky helps.....unless ur bowhunting and cant be seen moving.....rifle season by the time a deer knows im there its too late......and i kill them at about 30yds average......
