I'm also new to them , and I say go for it . If there's a shop or trad club near you then try as many as you can to find the weight that suits you , this will also give you the chance to compare brands and configurations . I started with an ancient 40# Shakespeare Wonderbow and then got a PSE Kudu with 50# limbs for $250 at Cabela's . I like both bows and shoot them both about equally .
