Hey guys, and gals I haven't posted in a looong time but nothing gets me fired up like topics concerning our kids. I have an 8 year old daughter that was recently diagnosed with type (1) diabetes via a trip to ICU for a week. She has been hunting with me since she was 4, and loves every second of it. Last season on opening day we hunted a great little bow stand of ours, and she was getting a little tired of waiting so I figured I would do a little spot and stalk to make things a little more exciting. Well I let my bow down, put on my pack, and was three steps down about to sling her rifle over my shoulder and what walks out of the trees 35 yards away but a nice old doe. I scramble back up in the stand only to find her with her head in her shirt flailing her arms in some goofy kid way. I call to her 1,2,3,4 times finally she's like "What Daddy?" I say "theres a doe right there get your gun ready" I load the rifle set it up on the rail and before I can say "now relax" BOOM she pounded that doe. Waaaaaay Cool as the saying goes. Later during the season she managed to get her first buck (1) shot 101 yards. Now she thinks she's the great white hunter. Her brother will be two this month. I can't wait to get him started too.
