Default RE: When is a bow kill considered dead?

I shot a 7 pointer last year from about 10 yds. The arrow flew right through him hitting both lungs and the heart. He jumped and looked around and put his head back down on the ground sniffing the doe scent I put out. Then he started to tremble and tried to run off.
He fell dead within 15yds from where I stuck him.

I believe he was dead but didn't know it.
