Are you going to hunt with dogs? If so, buckshot is the way to go with the deer runnninng and like trap said, try modified choke and full choke with a couple of different buckshot and see how they pattern. If you are not using dogs I prefer the sabot copper slugs in a fully rifled barrel. I still and stand in a county that you can use dogs in and I almost always use my Ithica Deer Slayer with Remington copper solid slugs and it will bring a deer down at 125 yards no problem. Oh yeah, I get 2" groupings at that range also.
