I use the rubber maid also, but I have thought about getting some of the GI sleeping bag bags. they are rubber on the inside and nylon canvas on the outside, totally water proof and scent proof. You get some from sportsmansguide.com or any army surplus that is close to a military base usually has a good supply. I already have a couple with my mummy bags in them, they cost about 3-4.00 a piece.
