As a resident of fort mcmurray for 24 years I can tell you that the hunting is extremely poor in this area with the exception of black bears.Hunting pressure is extremely high and moose and deer populations are well below those in most other parts of the province.I myself have not hunted moose or deer in the area for over 20 years,prefering to travel south or west to do all of my hunting.As such,I recommend that you not buy special gear for this area but instead travel to better areas to hunt as the more serious hunters from fort mcmurray do.
