Default RE: What happened???

wow can of worms i opened up on that one...First off, TAZ- Have lost one deer in my life. I put the arrow right behind his shoulder and watched him take off. waited a half hour, crawled down, got help, and began the search. skipped outta school the next to look also. never found him. Other than that, i have never shot any deer that i have not recovered. why is the shot not ethical? It drops the deer immediately. it kills it quickly. and my comments are being blown out of proportion. the way some of you sound, its almost like you think i shoot for the back legs on every single deer. I've shot 2 deer in the hindquarters, neither of them on purpose. but by watching their reactions and a couple other times where i've seen deer shot in the hind quarters i've come to the conclusion that it is the best shot when it comes to killing a deer when you have the proper weapon. I would only take the shot if that deer was a big antlered buck that i had been working my ass off for, and i had a 12 gauge shotgun slug or high powered rifle that packs a punch. i wouldnt take the shot with a bow. ethical because it wastes meat? I have an entire freezer full of meat, and in the CWD zones they wont let you donate meat. what am i supposed to do...well, gee, i can't shoot him because i have enough meat. i dont get one of those warm fuzzy feelings deep down because i let a deer walk even though i could easily and humanely kill him. If i work my tail off, put my blood sweat and tears into it, freeze my toes and nose, and pay my $300 tag, i want to get that buck. My first shot is aimed for the lungs, but if i can knock him down and kill him with 1 shot, im taking that shot.

Mr.Longbeard, if you think i poach so much why dont you come on out and watch me hunt my land that spoils me. I follow the hunting regulations to a tee. The law doesnt say where my bullet has to hit that deer. My code of ethics says that if i put my all into a hunt and am given a shot that i normally do not take but would humanely kill a deer, im gonna take it. some people think neck shots are unethical. alot of deer hit in the neck can get away because the vein, airway, and neck bones arent that big in the neck. could be just a flesh wound. so there...you wanna call me a poacher come say it to my face. I hunt with family, yeah, we are very competetive as who can get that biggest deer that year. it's an honor.that 140" buck i got because of my so called spoiled hunting land, i worked for. I missed two dandy bucks the day before. I stayed on stand and froze. I looked at my maps to find the best spot to post a drive. i worked to get up in that spot. I sat ona cold rock and waited. i connected, knocked the deer down with one shot, killing him. just because the shot didnt touch heart/lung area doesnt mean its wrong. anti hunters would be appalled by gut shots, not shots that fully incapcitate a deer and kill it within seconds. I have the utmost respect for my game. just because i condone shots that you guys consider unethical i guess is just too darn bad.
