Born n Raised in Illinois, moved to Iowa a few years back (1/2 hour from my Ill. home) & bowhunted Ws. since 1958-almost every part there is.
I see no reason to go to (for Whitetail) Canada, Texas or Mexico, in fact Kansas has little on this part of the country-they are about the same. Lets say this-when the Bowseason is on, I am Bowhunting at home cause they ain't no bigger ones anywhere else. I do have 2-2 1/2 day hunts planned for central Ws. (not Buffalo county) & another 4 days for the Northern part. I will be filming my family in Ill. & trying to take a good Buck in Iowa for sure. If you hunt the midwest-Mo. also, you have the potential of seeing a good Buck-a good Buck is different for everyone but you will have the possibliity of a P&Y Buck. Then again-thou we have them-you may go without seeing one. If you talk to a guide or outfitter or read the hype stories you will think your going to get a shot at one for sure-NOT!!!!! They don't get big by letting hunters see them-even on private, managed land. Good Luck & I am hoping to get a shot at a wall hanger this year-I had 1 shot at 32 yards last year at a 10 point est. 160-he is still around. Good Luck to all.
