big bulls-shot placement is most important factor, but I gurantee the 300mags and up will bowl an elk over. They give you error factor that a 270 doesn't give you. for elk a 270 is no better than a243 or 250 savage. If its on the money ...dead elk.... if not see elk run... see elk run over hill.. see elk run down other side....see elk running into trees....ever find elk..????
