Default RE: : 30.06 IS KING..110 TO 220 GRAIN..ENOUGH SAID

The 06 is more versatile than most cartridges but not THE most versatile in my opinion.Brutal was on the right track, for versatility the 300win,RUM,or weatherby are better, same bullet selection, but more room to vari powder charges. I personally like the 300Win. Mag. I started out w/ a 243-6mm-250savage-25.06-270-7mm08-7mmrem-30.06-300win. They were all alright calibers for certain uses, but in the end that 300 lays em out like nothing else(includeing the.06). My son is just starting hunting and I'm not gonna make him shoot that 300. My brother stopped at the 7mm rem. He can start out useing a 6mm on deer and work his way up. For dangerous game bigger is better up to your limits in recoil. If the .06 was indeed the cure all we wouldnt have all these others, we wouldnt have needed them.
