I agree with Tomster......It may have been a breastbone shot.......I had not thought of that until he stated that. It com plies with everything you said.....The blood was dark red, and is was kind of shovel-nosing. If your sternum was shot I think you would be bending overa little also.

Ok, and for Deerslayer....I understand where you are coming from......but put yourself in the deer's hoofs. You wouoldn't want to be shot to the leg, and die slowly. Also, didnt you ever think about shooting all your deer in the spine. I mean that would make them fall straight down, and you wouldnt have to use any worthless energy to track your deer. I mean...the spine runs the entire length of the deer so you would always have some type of shot?? WOULDN'T YOU!!?? Get some class........and give the deer in your area a break!!
