Don't give me that BS of what the deer deserves. Why should i have to shoot it in the heart or lungs? Yeah, the deer is going to eventually die. But a lung shot deer could run a few hundred yards. I hit my 140" 9 point in the hind quarters, not on purpose, but it dropped him on the spot. a 220 pound field dressed deer dropped on the spot. Had i hit him in the lungs, he probably could have went 200 yards up the creek in terrible tracking conditions. I hit my 6 pointer this year in the front of the hind quartesr on a 260 yard running shot. It hit several main arteries and broke the front of the pelvis, dropping the deer on the spot and killing him almost instantly. Why should this not be considered a good shot? just because it ruins some meat. I can shoot does if i need meat that bad. I'm gonna make claims to justify or validate because i think that it is a very quick death for the deer. If had a record class buck that would only give me an ass shot, im going to take that shot where you think its ethical or not. "oh gee, this world record class buck walked by but i didnt have a shot at his lungs or heart so i let him keep strolling down the path to go frolick happily with his friends." And dont say you wouldnt take that shot either. I aim for the heart and/or lungs everytime i shoot a deer. But if thats a slob buck and i dont have a front quarters shot, im taking out his rear vitals. A deer can't move with a busted up pelvis and blood spewing all over internally.
