A few years ago, I shot at a deer and hit it in the early season. I found a good blood trail and followed it until it dried up. During the late ML season, I had a deer walk up towards me limping and I figure I would take it out. It was the same deer. I was shooting down from a tree stand, on an angle, and the first bullet went right through the leg, just missing the body.

I was glad I finally got the deer. Is this something that could have happened to you, sure, or it was just a flesh wound. You could have hit the deer low, scarped the breast bone without breaking it, or hit a leg and she got away. Deer can run very fast on three legs.

Hopefully, she healed up and maybe you will see her again. It's a small world.
