Maybe not worth the effort if you're adding much in the way of recoil. Guess it depends on the kid involved, and how far and at what you're shooting. The 30/30 can almost impress you with good bullets, giving near (almost) .308 performance if you factor in the short barrels that most 30/30s have. How long is that H&R barrel?
