Ok, I understood that cats may have made other animals extinct. I got that. That does not answer my question. Why does the fact that cats make birds exticnt give you the right to go around killing people's pets? Humans have made animals extinct for centuries, our population is high, and we're screwing with the ecosystem, are you going to go around killing off humans too?
I'm sorry your argument is invalid. Please read below to understand why:
False Analogy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Definition:
In an analogy, two objects (or events), A and B are shown to
be similar. Then it is argued that since A has property P, so
also B must have property P. An analogy fails when the two
objects, A and B, are different in a way which affects whether
they both have property P.
Examples:
(i) Employees are like nails. Just as nails must be hit in the
head in order to make them work, so must employees.
(ii) Government is like business, so just as business must be
sensitive primarily to the bottom line, so also must
government. (But the objectives of government and business
are completely different, so probably they will have to meet
different criteria.)
Proof:
Identify the two objects or events being compared and the
property which both are said to possess. Show that the two
objects are different in a way which will affect whether they
both have that property.
My counter to you is this: Since I can't and would not shoot people. I feel that by doing what I do, some people may realize that they need to follow the law by having their cat 1) tagged and collared for identification 2) neutered or spayed to prevent more strays 3) keep their cat out of trouble by not letting it roam the neighborhood all night killing wildlife.
