what i have hunted and been succesful in is blacktailed deer, moose, black bear, grouse and rabbits and what ive hunted and not got is mainland mule deer all of my blacktailed deer has been from my hometown area of vancoverisland and i got my first at queencharlot islands

Blacktailed deer and mule deer are the exact same species.
Odocoileus hemionus is the scientific name. The subspecies that your hunting is the Sitka black-tailed deer (
Odocoileus hemionus
sitkensis), I think.
Which is kind of strange since hunting mule deer inland and hunting coastal blacktails is probably two totally different things. I can't really say since I've only hunted desert mulies.
