Default RE: Zero yardage

When I first tried blackpowder with open sights, I had a max range of 60 yards. Within a couple of years, it went to 80 yards, and now I think I am at my all time max of 100 yards, but only under ideal conditions. If I want to shoot game further than that, I can use a scoped rifle. Even though it is legal to use a scope on a muzzy in Texas, I have not, and don't plan to.

To answer your original question. Using a 348 powerbelt and 90 grains of 777, I sight my gun in at 2 inches high at 50 yards, and that is aprox. dead on at 100. I don't have to even think about elevation. I just put it on the middle of the animal's lung field and pull the trigger. Even if I miss guess the distance 10-15 yards at 100, I should still be fine.
