I would probably put the water tank in the same vicinity as my food plot and make two or three different stand locations for different wind directions. Not sure what would be best to plant, but you need something that is more cold tolerant. (I'm not familiar with alfalfa) Maybe wheat would work well and put in some Buck Forage Oats in with the wheat. Go ahead and soil test now and lime accordingly. The mineral licks are good year round.
