Default new food plot, need advice

hi all,
im trying to put a small food plot on my 20 acres. i have a "field" that is approximately 1/2 to 1 whole acre, but is covered in sage brush. i am that removed, by disking the field. i live in northeastern wyoming. we get some cold winters, and not a ton of moisture. what should i plant? i dont know what to look for as far as what will grow here. i know the deer around here like alfalfa, should i go with something that includes that? also, i want to put a water tank nearby, should i put it right on the edge of the field, or away from it? realize this place receives NO hunting pressure as of yet. do i want to put my eggs in one basket sort of speak, and put the water right by the field, or put it 100 or so yards away, possible 2 stand locations? for supplements i was looking at some of the biologic, tecomate, and cabelas stuff. also, i was thinking some salt and mineral blocks around or near the field would be a good idea. any help or suggestions is appreciated, i have no clue what im doing
