Default RE: ? on an old HOYT

WOOHOO!

That is one of my all time fave Hoyts I had at least 3 and I think 4 of them..yep 4. The original Hoyt "budget rocket". Same performance as thier top end Enticer bow for the time, but for about $200 less (Kind of like the MagnaTec/UltraMag of today)

Magnesium riser (same riser as on some of the recent Reflex bows).

Non-adjustable cable guard...fletch clearance can be an issue depending on what kind of set-up you use.

Could have several different cams depending on model year

1996 & 1997 models had either:
A(dvance) Cams were an 80% soft cam. True AMO speed was around 223-225
M(aster) cams were the hardcore hatchet cams True AMO speed was 235-237
Original C(ommand) cams were a 60% letoff soft cam..very smooth...AMO speed was 228-230

1998 models had
New C(ommand) cams 65% or 75% rotating modules (AMO about 228-230)
Redline Single cam (not available w/ Carbonite limbs) (AMO the same as the New C-cams)
Performa (mean-ass looking Hatchets) 65 or 75% rotating module. Wicked draw, wicked fast, wicked LOUD. (AMO was close to 240)

Carbonite split limbs. Some people had a lot of trouble with them, some did not.

Raptor model was introduced in 1996 and made through 1998. In 1999 offered it only in the less expensive solid limbs and called it the Raider. It was discontinued in 2001 I believe and put into the Reflex line.

I had a '96 A & M version
And a 98 C and Performa cam version.

IIRC

my 96 A cam was set at 74 pounds, 28" draw (one of my short draw phases). Heavy catwhiskers, AFC Accel 2300 weiging around 375-385 grains (WASP CCL 100 heads, feathers) shot 271 (edit..after some thought I better remembered the speed numbers) FPS. Brass nock, shurz peep, rubber eliminator.

96 M cam was 29", 73 pounds, same string stuff as the A-cam, was shooting a 400 grain arrow in the high 280s. That was a fast bow.

98 C cam was 29" 79 pounds, same string stuff..shooting in the mid 270s with an appx 450 grain arrow.

98 Performa Cam was 29", 71 pounds, same string stuff..was faster than the M-cam version, but I don't remember exact #s. It was so loud and hard to draw I got rid of it...it aggravated my rotator cuff injury...

These were all with roughly 7.5" brace heights (7 3/8" to 7 5/8")

I LOVED that bow. My best buddy back home shot my 96 A-cam up until last year when he finally bought a new UltraTec..he still has the Raptor as a back up..it wasn't fast but was super easy to draw, and super quiet.

I'd probably hate it now, but at the time, I thought they were the Cats Meow
