Default RE: Have you ever had a wood stock warp!?!?!

Most of the stocks that warp are usually regular walnut stocks. It does not take much to make a bullet miss its target by a lot. If your stock is touching the barrel any moisture that the barrel channel may absorbe will make it swell a little bit and put pressure on your barrel thus changing the harmonics of your barrel and possibly making it point in a very slightly different direction. A couple of thousandths of an inch at the gun can make a huge difference a couple hundred yards down range.

Also the way you hold your rifle will have an impact on the impact point and accuracy of your rifle. Again if the barrel is touching the stock and you sight in sitting on a bench but in the field you use a sling to stabilize your aim and put sideward pressure on your stock it will bend slightly and put sideward pressure on your barrel changing where youtr bullet will impact.

You can solve this problem before you ever have it happen by free floating your barrel.
