3 years ago we found a carcass during gun season, it had been killed during bowseason. the buck netted 175 3/8" B&C as an 11 point!!!!! a real whopper. Other than that, i found bones all the time in teh woods, especially shoulder bones. i found a 7 point that i had had at full draw several times during bow season and had rattled in a couple times. got shot during gun season and covred in snow, found him in march scouting for sheds. cut the skull off the spinal cord and now he's hanging on the line fence while the hair rots off. Found a dead doe 2 years ago, bullet hole in her hind legs, i found her blood trail a half mile away, she got away from the neighbors and didnt bleed much. It happens. I wounded a small buck last year with a bow and never got him, although i looked for a day and a half. i still feel pretty bad about it. but hey, it happens. the guys that hunt the land we own in iowa during the second season always find dead deer from the first season. our party has wounded a few deer that have gotten away, mostly all lower leg shots, but theres nothing you can do about it but make a better shot next time.
