My very first turkey was a jake. He weighed 18#'s and sported a 3" beard. A truly whopper of a bird at the age of 13, at least that's what I thought at the time after running close to a quarter mile back to my house to wake up Mom and Dad. The biggest bird was 24#'s, the longest beard was a little over 11". Most of the birds I have taken weigh around the 20-22 mark, beards around 9". I think that is average for Missouri.
