Just to help me out with a frame of reference so I might understand any possible bias factors....

Is the 30-06 (nice round BTW) the largest stick (rifle wise) in your closet?

OR

Do you have a range of rifles chambered in cartridges from small to large and having experienced the whole group have simply settled on the 30-06 as your favorite"?
