Default RE: Uncomformist Favorites?

I guess over the years i've had a lot of them, as at one time i was "wildcating" all kinds of cases and cals., includeing some that i designed myself.

Speaking of the 338-06, in the 80's i build one on a L.H. 700 Rem. action, Douglas bbl, stocked in nice French Walnut, ect., ect.. The first (3) years i hunted with it i shot (13) big game animials, includeing brown bear, moose, blk tailed deer, caribou ect... I still have the rifle, but i don't hunt with it anymore.

One thing i did with it, was to load 200 grain flat point bullets intended for the 33 winchester. I sped them up to the point where they worked like a 130 grain std. bullets out of a 270 Win., and that means explosive!! On rib shots on deer, it was like throwing bombs!!!!! Of course, i picked my shots and NEVER tried useing "that load or bullet" on anything bigger than deer.

Anyway, here's a picture of a nice bull caribou i shot with my 338-06 imp. loaded with 250 grain Seirra boat tails. I used the "first" version of that bullet and it worked pretty good on caribou, as they were more fragile than the later design.
