Default Questions about my airrifle

Hello all.
I've recently got a Raptor MKII air rifle. Its my first airgun which requires charging with a pump before firing and which has a magazine and I've a few questions about it.

1) It has a magazine that holds 8 pellets. After Ive fired the last pellet i have to pull back the cocking leaver to get the magazine out, but this recharges the air. Is it bad for the gun to pull the trigger now to release the air without firing a pellet? or is it bad for the gun to leave it charged for weeks without being fired?

2) The cocking lever often won't load the next pellet smoothly, and has to be pushed forward with some force to get the next pellet in, or sometimes it wont go in properly at all and I have to take out the magazine and push the pellet out of the barrel with a stick. Could this just be a compatibility problem with the pellets I'm using or is it more likely a problem with the gun?

3) How should I know when the gun needs recharging with air. Should I count the number of pellets that have been fired or just look for a drop in accuracy of fired pellets?

I'd be very grateful for any advice.
