RE: got the turkey hunting blues how about you
I finally packed all my gear away yesterday, until next year. (I keep all my turkey hunting stuff in a big Rubbermaid tub out in my storage shed.) As I have noted on other posts, to me, this spring was a less-than-satisfactory spring, though we had good turkey harvesting success, just not classic hunts.
I have been amazed to find that I have already switched gears from dreaming about turkeys to dreaming about waterfowl, though. Usually, I go into the doldrums for a few months, before I break out of my spring turkey reverie. I think a big help this spring was that I got into a waterfowling project, making my own electronic snow goose caller, right after the big part of the turkey hunting season (for me) ended. I think the anticipation of using that e-caller this fall in Saskatchewan, or next spring in the Dakotas, has already switched my focus to fall waterfowling.
(I did pick up some closeout mouth diaphragms this Memorial Day weekend, though!!)
Here's to hoping for a great hatch everywhere (and new places, too) the gobbler is found, for limited predation, a good winter, and gobblers everywhere you want them to be next spring!!
