I think you are making a good choice with the 7mm-08. Finding ammo for a 7mm-08 is very easy, every well stocked gunstor will carry it. I believe Wall-mart has it too. I think Tikkas are out of the price range you mentioned. I would stick with the Howa or Savage. If you go with Remington I would look for a M7 or a M700 Mtn rifle. Get one with a wood stock if you plan on having it altered to fit the shooter.
