RE: how much do you value your rights? ¤READ¤
TP, you keep referring to the police and the "lawful" pursuit of their duties. I would argue that not all laws are lawful. In Nazi Germany it was "lawful" for German soldiers to send Jews to their deaths in concentration camps or, if necessary, execute them on sight I suppose. Get the picture?
Any law designed to confiscate our guns can never be "lawful", much less constitutional. An officer of the law would have a duty not to obey such a law just as the soldiers of the Third Reich should not have obeyed their orders to send millions of innocents to the gas chambers. If a policeman, sheriff or whatever acted upon such a law, he'd be no better than one of those Nazi soldiers in my opinion.
But if my worst nightmare somehow became reality and police officers showed up on my doorstep to confiscate my weapons, I doubt I'd resort to any kind of violence at that moment. Wouldn't be smart at all. I'd only end up dead or in jail. You see, my guns would have been secreted away well before they arrived so I could use them later in a coordinated effort if necessary. "No officer, I have no guns. I sold them to someone long ago for cash and I didn't get his name or address."
But alas, I'm not too worried about ever having to face such a scenario. I may be naive, but I just don't ever see it happening. The law officers I know and respect would never abide by it.
"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future!" - Adolph Hitler, 15 April 1935, in an address to the Reichstag
