My 2 cents. Soark wonders how many police/militry would walk away. Probably more police than military. As a current servicemember, I can't just walk off the job the way civilians or police can. The military generally frown on that sort of behavior - they call it AWOL (Or UA for my Navy/Marine brethern in the audience.) The ones that would walk away are the officers and senior NCOs that have the ability to resign/retire
I don't have a copy of the article i read many years ago by a major in the marine corps.who was attending the war college but it goes like this. the major made up a questioner and gave them to several marines. there were only a few questions that he was looking for answers to for his study. one of the questions read something like " the gov't has banned guns and given a time period for people to turn them in . after that period the military will be used to sieze them. would you freely sieze weapons?
the large majority stated no being that this was a yes or no deal. it was noted that most showed signs of irratation by how hard they filled in the no oval. a few wrote in responses . one that i remember was that if the second ammendment was repealed then the constitution was no longer valid so that marines obligation to the gov't was no longer -due to that person swearing to support and defend it.
After reading that it has just always stuck in my mind
