I have never liked traditional scopes. When I pick them up it takes me too long to focus and re-acquire my target. I find I'm much quicker firing with open sights. Today I proved to myself what I have thought for a long time. I am much more accurate without a scope too!
I tried out my new Tasco red dot scope. That thing is going in the trash can. With a bench and using a spotter I made adjustment after adjustment and the darn thing hit all over the place. I got fed up and started firing free hand with the open sights and consistantly hit the target. I'm glad some of you like them but in my hands scopes suck.
One other observation about that red dot scope. It was a bright day so I increased the brightness to the maximum setting (11 just like Spinal Tap) and still had difficulty making out the dot. Others tried it and had the same problem.
