Safety
In the past couple days there was a post on another forum concerning safety at Bedford, the first leg of the National Triple Crown.
I have asked White River Bowhunters for an explanation of the situation and what thet found and what will be done in the future.
Here is their response.
1. Every effort is made to insure that no target set is in such a manner that any archer is shooting in any way toward another archer.
2 There were two range officers, the shoot chairman from White River Bowhunters along with three IBO officials that walked the ranges prior to the event, and checked for any problem of this nature.
The shoot chairman has nineteen years setting up this shoot. He is on each and every target numerous times to insure safety.
3. The range officials at the tents all have several years experience on their job and would not dismiss a problem of this severe a nature. They did not panic but we assure you the problem was looked into.
4.We will go back over the courses and look at each individual target in relation to the others in order to insure this sort of thing cannot re-occur.
5.Please inform the shooters that if they run into a problem that is not rectified to their satisfaction to contact the shoot chairman and if need be the proper IBO official.
6. We have put a message on our web site and gate pass out that any "safety issue" be brought to the shoot chairman's attention immediately.
That is the response from White River Bowhunters.
From our viewpoint:
In the realest sense we have looked at the placement and this occurance was definitely of a freak nature. Safety has always been and will continue to be of paramount importance.
We do utilize a range manual and that manual also stresses the first consideration be safety.
