I would try something a little different. If he gave up his position again, I would try to get in as tight as possible to him. Before he flew down, I would not call, but rather I would slap my hat against my leg like a bird flying down. Odds are decent if you are close enough, he'll gobble at that. I would wait a minute, then I would begin scratching the leaves like a hen scratching. Do this periodically, but be carefull and be ready, it's a good possibility that he'll come in quiet. If you have to call, do some light purrs and clucks after the flydown, but not before.
