RE: late season tactics
I've never thought of there being poults hatched out during spring turkey season. If this is common in your area, I wonder if a lost poult call, a kee-kee whistle, might draw in a hen and with her, a tom.
Otherwise, whether early or late season, to me the secret is location, location, location. Roost 'em, be there at flydown, listen, listen, listen.
Also, if you know patterns, take advantage. A landowner once told me that "every day, those birds are out in that field at 8:30 in the morning." Guess where I was at 8:30 the next morning??
