Superpig I know the question wan't to me but I will throw in a opinion. I have tried the savage, remington and marlin 17 hmr's and settled for the marlin for now.The savage was a excellent preformer but it does come with about a 7 or 8 pound trigger and if you buy the synthetic stock (wich I did) the stock is just a tad to short with a little to much drop to really snuggle up and still get your eye where it belongs. The rem. 597 was also a excellent shooter with a nice stock but the clips they use just plain suck. The marlin came with a decent trigger and the stock was better suited for scope use. All three of these guns would shoot .5" at 100 with a cheap 3x9 scope. Just my .02
