I shoot the same loads in my Super Redhawk as does my friend in his Freedom Arms 454. My opinion is that a 260gr partition @ 1650 fps is more than enough for any N. American big game animal. I've seen them knock a 400 lb boar (pig) off it's feet. When I go on my next elk hunt the 338 is staying home and I'm going to take the 454.
