I don't know what the rate of twist is on your Remington, but my old 7400 didn't like the lighter weght bullets. I got best results from 95-grainers. Keep in mind, I was attempting to make a good deer rifle into a varmint gun. It just wasn't up to the task. I've since traded the 7400 for a Winchester 70 in 270 wsm. I can't wait to find out what kind of varmint loads I can get out of the short mag.
