RE: Youth Firearms
Be it rifles or Shotguns, I love my Remingtons.
Over the last few years I've been trying out several different brands of firearms and am always drawn back to the Remingtons.
Ever since I got my first Remington .30-06 when I was 10, I've loved them. My two personal favorites are the Remington 870 Express Magnum .12 gauge and the Remington 700 .270 BDL.
I've tried a couple different Mossberg shotguns and had mixed results. One always jammed on the last shell, it didn't matter how clean it was, it always jammed. And the other had a saftey that just wouldn't kick off fast enough.
I got my 870 when I was 9, I loved it. Killed my first turkey with it when I was 10, not to mention my first duck, goose, and pheasant. I suppose you could say that the 870s hold more than a little sentimental value with me.
When I was 10 I got my first rifle. It was a Remington .30-06, I don't remember the model. I liked it, but it kicked like a mule. I wasn't the smallest kid, but I wasn't the biggest either. Needless to say after shooting my first deer with it, I got rid of it. Four years ago when I was 12 I decided I wanted a .270. I had read many good things about them and fell in love with the caliber.
It's an excellent rifle for anyone of any age. From two to toothless this is an excellent rifle. You can hunt any of North America's big game with it. I've taken 5 deer with it so far and couldn't be happier. All but one of those deer dropped on the spot, and two were 200+ yards away. This last years ran only 40 yards before collapsing right next to the road.
