RE: Pointers
howler has some good advice there.as far as the best time to night hunt,it depends on where you live.around me its between 3:00 am to 5:30 am.this is becouse this place is populated with alot of traffic and noise.after the bars close and things begin to quiet down is when they seem to respond better, there also more vocal when human activity is nill.i would expect in areas of little human population and activity they would be huntable any time of night.hunting coyotes at night is no easy task.when its dark with no snow cover and your using lights its very easy for them to get down wind of you with out you knowing it.pick your stands sites carefully for night time coyotes.the ultimate stand would have some kind of barrier, busy road, lake, cliff etc at your back with the wind in your face.this kind of set up will not allow them to get down wind of you.at this time(if they don't see or hear you)they will trot down the barrier right into your lap.these kinds of sites may be far and few between, there for its best to have a huntin partner.set the shooter 50 to 100 yards(on a calm night)down wind of the caller.this will increase your odds at bagging one trying to sneak around the caller.if your using a remote call box the same thing applies, sit 50 to 100 yards down wind of the call box.
