Hey Kevin, good post. I have a question for you though. I plan on taking the test in NY in order to get the special license required to track deer with a dog, probably this year, but it may be next because of scheduling problems.

Anyway, I have a young English Springer that I would like to train to track wounded deer. She is 16 weeks now, and I can not start training right now because I have no deer blood. I have tried to use venison steaks that are left out of the freezer for a day, but they don't seem to works very well. Any suggestions. And do you think that this fall after I get a deer would be too late to start training her?
