Well, it’s that time of year when I start telling myself that I need new broadheads. I think this year I want to shoot mechs as I have in previous years. I’ve used fixed for several years and switch back and forth about every other year now it seems. What I’m looking for is a mech that has blades that open without deflecting the arrow on quatering away type shot. I also want the same head to have at least a 1.5” cutting diameter. I’ve been looking at some larger heads, but nothing catches my eye…..a little help would be appreciated in my quest for the best mech. I’m open to suggestions of any kind, fixed or mech, large or small. I really don’t care what I shoot, but I need a heavy blood trail. I hunt in nasty thick clearcuts where trils zig and zag every direction. If the blood is sparse it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. I like to remove that ‘problem’ with lots of blood…..if I can that is!
